Compliance Matters provides HERS/ECC field verification, Title 24 testing, and HVAC permit support for homeowners, HVAC contractors, and builders. Based in Stockton, we travel throughout Northern California. Tell us your job city and project details so we can confirm the testing scope, availability, and quote.
HERS and ECC testing for your project
You may see both HERS and ECC used in project paperwork and service requests. ECC means Energy Code Compliance. The tests and documentation your project needs depend on the applicable code cycle, approved compliance documents, permit, and work being performed. We review the project requirements with you before scheduling.
Our work supports HVAC replacements and alterations, new construction, and project closeout. Field verification checks the installed work against the project requirements; it does not replace the installing contractor’s work or the building department’s approval.
Testing and compliance services
Duct leakage testing: Measures air leakage in the duct system. It is different from duct cleaning, which removes accumulated debris. Testing helps establish whether the ductwork meets the requirements that apply to the project.
Airflow measurements: Checks HVAC airflow as required by the project’s compliance documents. We explain the result and any follow-up needed with the homeowner or contractor.
Refrigerant charge verification: Verifies applicable system performance requirements. Test conditions and the installed equipment affect the procedure; confirm your project’s needs when scheduling.
HVAC permit-pulling and coordination: We help homeowners and contractors with permit paperwork, required testing, and closeout coordination. Scope, owner or contractor authorization, jurisdiction fees, and inspection requirements are confirmed for each job.
How scheduling and verification work
1. Share the job details. Send the job city, project type, contractor contact if applicable, permit information, and available compliance documents.
2. Confirm the scope and visit. We review what is needed and confirm pricing, access, equipment readiness, and scheduling. Travel outside our usual routes is arranged by project.
3. Complete testing and review the result. We perform the agreed testing and explain the findings. If corrections are needed, we identify the next steps and coordinate retesting after the work is addressed.
4. Complete the applicable verification paperwork. We coordinate the testing documentation with your project team. The building department retains responsibility for permit and inspection approval.
Northern California service coverage
Compliance Matters is based in Stockton and serves projects throughout Northern California. We can often travel beyond the immediate Stockton area; availability depends on the service, location, and scheduling. Send your job city for a quote, or view our Stockton HERS/ECC testing services.
Common questions
Can I be home during testing?
Usually, yes. We will explain any access, equipment-operation, or preparation requirements before the visit.
How many tests will I need?
The scope depends on the project and its compliance documents. Share those details so we can confirm what applies rather than assume every job needs the same tests.
What happens if the system does not pass?
We explain the findings and the corrections needed. After the responsible contractor completes the work, retesting can be arranged.
Do you work directly with homeowners?
Yes. We work with homeowners as well as HVAC contractors and builders, and help clarify the testing and paperwork needed for the project.
Do I need cleaning or a leakage test?
They address different issues. If you need debris removed, see air duct cleaning. If your permit or compliance documents call for duct leakage verification, contact us about testing.
